This Past Week's Update :)

Last Sunday, some of my friends (MaryLynn, Ashla, Austin and Levi) and I went Christmas caroling at the old folks home in Rexburg. I don't have the greatest singing voice, but it was so refreshing to see the old people's smiles light up as we sung to them. There was one old man name Freddie, who was in a wheelchair and followed us around...he kept on cracking jokes. He reminded me of what grandpa Lyle might be like in a few years. Some of the people even joined in with our singing and it was a wonderous sight. It made me greatful for family and having the opportunity to be with them this Christmas season. It made me feel good that we could spread some Christmas cheer! Everyone then came over afterwards for some warm peach cobbler I made and hot cocoa....it was mighty yummy, if I do say so myself! We ended the night with going stadium singing and singing more Christmas carols. I just love Christmas music and can't seem to get enough of it!
Monday, we made our apartment into a winter wonderland, by hanging snowflakes (we made) from our ceiling, hanging tinsel and glittery ornaments...( I had glitter all over me and it reminded me of the good ol' Hallmark days :)...the decorations truly makes our apartment feel a bit more like Christmas....although there is no snow here yet!
Tuesday, we took down our thankful tree from Thanksgiving and put our Thankful Christmas tree. Some of our friends came over and help us trace and make ornaments. Our friend Kyle, sketched the Rexburg temple on one...it is amazing! We had a good ol' time being crafty and listening to Christmas music(soundtrack from the Christmas movie Elf...according to Kyle that is the only Christmas music he has heard at our apartment) as we worked away (I'm starting to think I'm Santa's elf, with all the Christmas preparation we have been doing....it's not an easy job I'm finding out!)
Wednesday, was our day off!! whaooo!! (well, I did have a state literacy exam to study for)...My roomate MaryLynn and I still found some time to put on our dancing shoes and go country dancing...I'm pretty much addicted! It was fun...much more fun than the library, where I went afterwards!! I was a little distracted at the library and ended up writing a poem instead...(I'll post that later).
Thursday, we had a gingerbread making party! whaooooo!!! (do the feastivities ever end....??? Not at Brooklyn 204!). We had around 10 people show up to make houses out of graham crackers and it was a ton of fun! I just love be all crafty!
Friday, we decided to get out of our craft bubble and go exploring outdoors....I just love the outdoors and I find the cold rather refreshing. We went and had a bonfire at beaverdick. We roasted hot dogs and marshmellows. It was nice to be with friends, laugh and have fun!
Saturday, today was a homework day...imagine that! #*!! I did homework for the majority of the day and then went to a Christmas concert with my roomates. We had some friends singing in it and it was absolutely amazing! I loved all of it! The night ended with finishing homework and starting to make egg roll filling. I (along with the help of my amazing roomates) made a tantilizing Chinese dinner! (for Sunday). We had eggrolls, sweet and sour chicken and rice. It ended up being a lot of work, but I was glad to have more than 2 hands! It was mighty scruptous in the end and I was stuffed! According to my roomate Ashla, she now knows why people call me "Mother Theresa"...I guess my parents named me right!
Well, that's an update of my week! It was busy, but SO much fun! I'm so thankful for this wonderful Christmas Season and the opportunity to reflect upon the Savior, his birth and all he has done for each of us. I'm thankful for the kind and loving roomates I have been blessed with this semester, for the amazing friends I have and for the loving family I have been blessed with! My we remember to reflect this Christmas Season upon all that we have been given. In the words of Tiny Tim "God bless us, every one!" Love ya all! Happy Holidays!!
